Its now late in the Summer of 1949 and Railway Mail
Service is nearly at an end on the O&W, with only the route to Roscoe
(RK) still under postal service contract; -- and will soon end. Here,
the FT diesels are in the process of turning the train on the Roscoe wye.
Having just backed off, the engines and the Osgood Bradley
Baggage-Mail car #172, the only one of three identical cars to wear
the diesel scheme inspired gray-yellow trimmed paint are backing down
on the rest of the train. At this late date only a handful of leased
NYC coaches are needed to cover the patronage. This HO scale image was
made by Bill Schneider on his layout, which depicts the O&W route from
Livingston Manor to Roscoe in remarkable and uncanny detail and accuracy.
